July 2nd 2009, City of Zrenyanin, Republic of Serbia – the Bulgarian company Stroitelna Mehanizatsia AD, Kazanlak, which is one of the founders of BATT will connect the Serbian gasholder “Banatski Dvor” to the transmission network of our western neighbor country within the project DV 04-18, length of the line 2000 m – it was announced late in the last evening by the company. The project is extremely hard for implementation – the gas pipeline is to pass through water impediments, namely under Mala Bara channel, Egrichka River and Tisa River, as well as under Babatska Palatnka – Novi Bechei channel. The tender was won by a consortium, in which the leading company is Stroitelna Mehanizatsia AD, Kazanlak, the Bulgarian leader in application of trenchless technologies for construction of transmission networks.
Project assignor is Serbia Gas, and the realization will be conducted by a consortium of Stroitelna Mehanizatsia AD, Kazanlak and Millenium Team Ltd., Belgrade.
This is the first project of such significance, assigned for implementation to a Bulgarian company. The total length of the pipelines to be installed by trenchless technology is 2000m, as the longest drilling (under Tisa River) is about 1000m. Three different horizontal directional drilling machines will be used for the installation, depending on the length of each separate drilling. The time limit for the project to be completed is 55 days.
The project started with the first of the four drillings of Banatska Palanka – Novi Bechei channel (City of Zrenyanin is located 90km. north of Belgrade) which was implemented in the afternoon of July 1st. The attendants to the official event were: on the Serbian part – Mr. Dushan Bayatovich, General Manager of Serbia Gas and Mr. Yovitsa Budimir, Executive Director Investments and others; on the Bulgarian part – Mr. Detelin Dimitrov, First Secretary of the Embassy of Bulgaria to Serbia, as well as Mr. Stefan Zhalyazkov, Executive Director of Stroitelna Mehanizatsia.
Being a part of the plan for risk diversification of gas supplies, the project is of great importance to our western neighbor country.
